dressing up

i've been contemplating halloween outfits for nearly a month now (i know, how sad...!) and my decisions have varied manically. first of all, i wanted to be a witch, but too many girls do that. and then i wanted to be a cat, i even bought this adorable little mask from claire's accessories for £4, meaning to find a black and silver leotard and tutu to wear with it. but no such luck, not even after rummaging through endless dancewear shops and searching for hours on ebay! so its going back to the shop the next time i'm in aberdeen...

it's a shame, because i really wanted to be a cool cat this year. so then i changed my mind to being a pirate. and quickly changed it back again. 'pirate wench' is not a good look. ever. so after a search on ebay for inspiration, i decided that 'fallen angel' was a good way to go. what's not to like about a black dress, fluffy wings and a halo??

so i went to peterhead's amazing fancy-dress shops cj's earlier on and asked the assistant to show me the said 'fallen angel' outfit. ewwww. it was made of rough crushed black velour, with horrible organza sleeves and trimmed everywhere with marabou feathers. so i decided not to buy it. my actual end decision surprised me, because it's not my kind of thing generally. but we'll see what you think...

the dress, as you can see, is incredibly short. especially on someone of my height (i'm five foot seven in flats!) but i bought it anyway. i tried it on in the new look changing room and i was actually quite surprised to find that it covers my bum! so i was definitely more pleased with it then.! its meant to be worn bare-legged, with the fishnet stockings rolled up to the thighs. there is NO WAY i'm going out dressed like that, especially to my uncle's pub! so i'm going to wear nice thick tights with it and roll the stockings down to pop socks, which will look cheeky and cute, and nowhere near as slutty! i'm also going to throw on a black lace shrug i've had for years, just to cover up my top half slightly more! so hopefully, when i'm done with it, it will look quite sexy, but not like a prostitute. that was not the plan at all! i'm still debating my footwear situation - red flats will make my whole legs look wide, whereas my ankle boots will elongate my leg but make my thighs look huge in such a short skirt. so i might borrow some red satin peeptoes courtesy of my auntie, or see if i can dig out an old pair of black ones instead!

in other 'news', i have a date with kevin tomorrow but, in typical fashion, my body has chosen today to come down with ANOTHER cold. i've only just got over one!! but i'm really hoping it won't be a bad one, i've got another gig at the hotel next thursday!!! wish me health, i'm going to need it...!
