(shift dress, river island)
i bought this dress last year in the end of year sales at river island - saturday was the first time i've worn it, i can't believe it because its so pretty! i think it was originally £80 but i think i paid about £15! i love the corsage detail on the shoulder!
and i wore these shoes with it - i bought them at a really cheap shoe store for £15 last year and i've only worn them twice, maybe three times. they were really comfy up until about 2am, when we were in the taxi rank queue, and then my feet felt like they were aflame! i almost cried with relief when i finally got to take them off back at the hotel! but they do look really nice on, even though they look huge in this picture, and rather dirty too! i do have quite big feet for a girl i suppose - size seven - but i am five foot seven and a bit, so i guess i'd look silly with dinky little feet! heels make my feet look a lot smaller, which i like, but then i do feel extremely tall and inelegant - i guess i'm lucky my boyfriend is over six foot, as i'll always look petite beside him!
as i stayed at my aunt's (fifty miles from home) on friday night, i couldn't be bothered to go all the way home on saturday to pick up clothes, so i took them all with me on friday. it was only when i laid out my outfit on saturday afternoon that i realised i didn't have a bag to go with the outfit - how stupid! so i had to do a mad (and so very hectic) saturday-afternoon-peak-shopping-time rush to primark to pick up something cheap and quickly. it sounds like i buy an awful lot in primark but i only really do buy stuff there when i'm very very very poor, as is the case at present! anyway, i found this super-cute dinky little clutch/shoulder bag in the perfect colour, for a perfect £5! it only fitted my phone, a lipbalm, some cash and our hotel room keycard, but it was worth it because it went so lovely with the rest of the outfit!
the whole kind of lame-fake crystal thing isn't really my sort of thing, i usually prefer to go for a more gritty kind of look. but i like to look girly and sheeny-shiny for nights out and parties with certain people, and saturday was definitely a day when i felt like i wanted to be all girlie and sweet! i just wore the outfit with a baggy, cropped cream cardigan (which got soaked in the rain and ended up spending the night in someone's handbag - the joys of scottish weather!) and a pearl necklace wrapped round my wrist for a multistrand bracelet, and the incredibly sweet and dramatic chandelier earrings i bought a few weeks ago!
sunday was lovely boyfriend's 21st birthday and we had quiet (ish) celebrations, as his actual birthday party is on friday night. we all spent the afternoon in our local, where everyone is everyone's friend, getting steadily more drunk - the perfect sunday afternoon! there was the local 'spunky cup' tournament (it involves matches and seriously skilled guesswork, if you're wondering) and a band playing, so it was a nice afternoon all in all. i'm just glad he had a nice time :)
i didn't take any photos of my outfit for college today, but i basically wore a topshop navy vest, a navy zara cardigan, a blue highwaisted skirt from primark, black tights and sweet blue ballerina flats from h&m, not exactly warm but cute!! see you tomorrow :) x
