in the spotlight

oh i was in the glare of it all today.. as i didn't wear my beautiful new ankle boots yesterday, i decided to brave the risk of severe foot-ache and wore them to college. it was raining all morning so i decided to put them with some nice thick tights and my old favourite, a purple floral tea dress i bought from new look in february, along with my new long grey cardigan. better than soggy jeans!!
  • floral dress - £25, new look
  • grey cardigan - £8, primark
  • tights - £3, m&s
  • ankle boots - £12, primark

i was really surprised, and happy to report, that after a full eleven hours of wearing them, i didn't even have a sniff of a sore foot! i also got a wonderful and unexpected gift today... some beautiful antique pearls! my lovely classmate susan bought them in a vintage store in st.andrews and has never worn them - she's not really a lace-and-pearls kind of girl. so i got wonderfully lucky - she even refused to take any money for them! they're really gorgeous, a massive multistrand of them, all different widths and lengths, and they're really very eyecatching.

(multistrand pearls, vintage)

but i really was basking in the glare of the spotlight today... in my performance skills class, it was my turn to perform for the rest of the students today. although i adore it, performing really is one of the most nerve-wracking things i do, sometimes i don't even know how i get through it ok!!! but it went quite well, better than rehearsals, and my class were "pleasantly surprised". apparently they thought i'd all sound like kate nash, but i think i may have changed their minds!!! we performed 'right to be wrong' by joss stone, if you're interested ^_^ but the one person i wanted to be there wasn't in today. so we didn't get to rehearse at all for a gig the college is putting on in november. if i'm honest, i just wanted a lil compliment from lewis. that would have made my day far more than the pearls and the boots.... ><

by the way: if you're in aberdeen on friday november 14th, head down to the tunnels (it's underneath marks & spencer's) from 7.30-10pm. aberdeen college music studies (that's me!) is hosting a free gig, guaranteed to be full of (and i quote-) "the hottest, freshest up-and-coming talent in north-east scotland!" it'll be full of variety and a good laugh, pop along if you fancy a decent night out and some good music!! :)
